How to Start a Proxy Network Part 2
If you are going to used shared hosting, you a want to make sure that the company supports proxies. Now that you have your hosting figured out, you need to decide what type of script to run. The 2 main scripts are PHProxy and CGIProxy. I personally use the PHP proxy because they are faster and take up less resources. If you want more security and compatibility use CGIProxy, but make sure you have a good hosting package. PHP is becoming more popular, but some web pages are incompatible.
Next step in the process is to install the script. If you have purchased a dedicated server you will have to set it up. To get CGIProxy, visit jmarshall.com. Just upload the file nph-proxy.cgi to your cgi-bin folder, rename it to nph-proxy.pl, and change permissions to 755 (rwx r-x r-x in Plesk). If that sounds like too much work, try the CGI Script Installer. This will automatically change settings for you and should get you up and running in no time.
If you have shared hosting and are going to use PHProxy, download it here. To install PHProxy, just unzip and upload the files.
Your new proxy should be up and running. If you would like a custom template contact me. If you are in the business of making money, you should submit your proxy to top sites such as PooXe.com and Proxy.org
