How to Start a Proxy Network

So you want to start a proxy and make a few bucks. Depending on how much promotion you do, your proxy site(s) can make anywhere from $1/day to $40+/day.

The First thing you should do is choose a domain name. If you are creating a proxy for your own personal use, then you can just create a sub domain on one of your websites you already own or you can create a whole new site all together. I prefer to make a proxy for public use and use it myself, that way you can earn money at the same time. Choose a name related to your subject and something that is easy to remember. The first proxy site that I created was HideMyTail.com. It describes the subject of anonymity and is also easy to remember.

Next you want to pick a hosting company and package. Depending on your choice of proxy script and personal or private use, you will have to decide between shared hosting, VPS, or a dedicated server.

If you want a personal proxy or one that will not have that much traffic, shared hosting is right for you. You can sign up for shared hosting with 1and1 and pay less than $3.00/month.

If you are going to run multiple proxies or would like to promote your site to receive lots of traffic, a VPS will be right for you. Virtual Private Servers (VPS) meet the gap between high-end shared hosting and dedicated servers. VPS combines the bargain pricing of shared hosting with the flexibility and power of a dedicated server.

Most people reading this will not need a dedicated server for a long time. You would need a dedicated server only when you VPS starts to slow down and/or you are hosting lots of bandwith hungry websites.
