  1. Ben Says:

Due the LN-T4065F is a piece of shit! I’ve been doing hardcore research on TV’s for the past 6 months: DLP, LCD, Plasma, LCOs: due Plasma still takes the cake. LCD’s are still better at producing still images than motion and still have a problem with contrast ratios as compared to Plasma.

First off, Samsung’s suck; you should know that. They use the DNIe processor which has wide spread criticism for over blurring images to try and create a smoother looking motion display. This is especially noticeable in fleshy tones on people’s faces etc. Seriously go to Bestbuy stand there and watch a Samsung when there is a person on screen then quick compare it to even a LG or Sony and you’ll notice that the Samsung looks all blotchy during flesh tones and even fast movement shots you still get some boxiness like a divx encoded video from the old days of Sophomore year.

    2. The 15,000:1 contrast ratio is respectable, but the newest thing in contrast ratio’s is light sensors on the tv that adjust the brightness relative to the ambient lighting of the room. Samsung’s have a sensor that does this (so do Pioneers and others); but it really isn’t a “true” contrast ratio…its actually really comparable to a digital zoom on a camera…

I will show you a much better tv and tell you why its better:

    Pioneer PDP-5010HD
This is one of Pioneer’s newest TV’s their 8th Gen

    1. 20,000:1 Contrast Ratio I’ve seen the 720p model (that actually has 16,000:1 contrast ratio) and it was honestly breathtaking…it was ridiculous how black it was. I happened to actually be at Bestbuy while the Pioneer Rep and the Toshiba Rep were there and he showcased some of Pioneer’s strengths. Part of the reason Pioneer’s are darker is the glass, they only use 1 pane…so its lighter than other Plasmas and has less reflection (which some plasma’s have a problem with because of the 2 panes of glass).

    2. Processor - The Pioneer processors are RIDICULOUS. The rep actually pumped in regular cable onto his 720p display and onto a 60″ 1080p Panasonic display. The Pioneer kicked its ass. It makes regular tv look better just because of the processing capabilities. Lettering looked solid and clean, where on the Panasonic (their new model) looked slightly jagged and crappy. He was telling me that their new Plasma’s actually detect if there is lettering on the screen and rotate the pixels displaying the lettering by 1/16th so small that the human eye can’t notice it but that’s why they look so crisp…he said LG and Panasonic had already copied the technology and would be rolling it out in their next gen’s.

    3. Dot by Dot resloution. The new 1080p models have 5 input modes: 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480 (i think) and Dot by Dot. The Dot by Dot is the truest high resolution picture out there and will actually copy dot by dot every single pixel from a 1080 source onto the 1080p display; it sounds pretty intense.

I know their expensive..but I’m thinking about buying the 720p model (PDP-5080HD) which I’ve seen in the store and even at 720p blows other 1080p’s away. I was all about resolution for the longest time, thinking “1080p only” but there is no content broadcast at this point that is 1080p, its all 720. So the only thing that is 1080p is Blue-Ray, HD-DVD, the PS3 and the XBOX360. So if you think about it…as long as you’re going from a 1080 source to a 720 display with a good processor everything is going to look amazing; its when you have a 1080 display and a 720 source that the tv has to “fill in the blanks” and things don’t look so hot.

    Ha, just my thoughts…but seriously…Samsung? Serious…

Samly did not want to spend that much money. I know there are better tvs out their but you will pay a price. Actually this tv is really nice. We were watching preseason football on standard def and at first I almost thought it was being brodcasted in HD. The picture is really good for standard Def. I have not watched anything in HD yet.
